Holualoa, HI: An Enclave for Artists and Coffee Lovers Alike
Holualoa, named after the historic Hawaiian tradition of riding wooden sleds (holua) down the mountainous slopes (loa) of the dormant Hualālai Volcano, is tucked amid the upland farms between Kailua Kona and Keauhou. It provides a gorgeous setting for many of the Big Island’s most notable Kona coffee farms, due to the rich volcanic soil and ideal climate for the temperamental coffee bean growing process.
